What Can DH Do for You? - Quantum GIS - Time slot #2 (3pm)

Quantum GIS (QGIS), an open source geospatial desktop application, has been developing at a rapid pace, and has recently reached version 1.8. Its ease of use and accessibility (available for PC, Mac, and Linux platforms) has created a strong and active user community. In this workshop, we will explore the basic functionality of QGIS so that you may quickly learn how to load and format vector and raster data, use analysis tools, and query attributes.

Introduction to Regression Analysis in R

Regression analysis is a standard statistical method used in most analyses of social science data. This workshop will provide an overview of regression analysis, structured for individuals with knowledge of basic statistics but little to no background in regression. Regression procedures will be implemented in R. Participants should have some exposure to basic R procedures, such as importing data, but no experience in running and interpreting regressions in R.
