Dedoose Training Google Hangout 11 am Session

This is the sign up for the Dedoose Training Google Hangout. Sign up only if you cannot make to the training in person. There are several people who are out of town or even out of the country that have requested a Google Hangout of the training. You must have a gmail account and be on google +. There are only 8 spots available during each session.

R Boot Camp

This will contain a longer description of the Bootcamp - format, content, goals, etc... formated more nicely

• Day 1 morning (learning R)
– basics of R, with Rstudio
* R as a calculator
* some basic functions
* objects in R and basic vectors/dataframes
* basic graphics

Dedoose

This is a hands-on workshop by Eli Lieber of Dedoose. Dedoose is a cross-platform app for analyzing text, video, and spreadsheet data for qualitative and mixed methods research. D-Lab is sponsoring this workshop so that campus users can get experience with one of the newer software offerings in this domain.

Crowdfunding: Setting the Research Agenda

We are seeking submissions for a research conference on crowdfunding, sponsored by the Coleman Fung Institute of Engineering Leadership, UC Berkeley College of Engineering, October 17 and 18, 2013. Given last April’s passage of the JOBS Act (Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act), and delay in the issuance of clear regulatory guidelines, the research agenda remains unclear. As such, we seek a very wide array of submissions from all disciplines.

Webinar: Using O*NET Information in Research Applications

 

This webinar will describe examples of how information from the O*NET database has been combined with other datasets for a wide variety of research projects from organizations such as the Federal Reserve, universities, and the AARP.  You will also learn about the resources and research reports that are available for download from the O*NET Resource Center website, along with where and how to find them for use in your own research projects.

You will learn the core properties of the R programming language through step-by-step examples and scaffolded exercises with data provided by the instructor.
