This Monday the D-Lab Securing Research Data Working Group will hear from Caroline Figueroa of the Digital Health Equity and Access Lab. Caroline will describe the Diamante study, which uses text messaging and tracks cell phone data (steps and location) to help people become and remain physically active. The project will also build data science curriculum modules and a Social Justice Toolkit based on the research. Echoing recent topics such as re-identification and synthetic data, Caroline will speak about the social and ethical implications of this work.
Please note that after Monday's meeting, the working group will move to the second Monday of each month for the rest of the semester. For the next meeting, on February 8, in conjunction with Love Data Week 2021, we are planning a presentation about new services available to campus researchers working with sensitive and restricted use data. Please keep an eye out for our announcement.
