D-Lab: Convening Room (356 Barrows Hall)

Type:

This workshop will cover theory and techniques for maximizing the effectiveness of figures used for visualizing information. Rather than teaching any particular visualization software, this course will teach students about the "nuts and bolts" of effective data visualization. Dr. Samuel will demonstrate the visualization of data using historical and modern examples as motivators, providing knowledge of best practices for designing figures for varying purposes – e.g. presentation vs. publication and using data to influence policy.
