A picture paints a thousand words! But in reality, with the exception of using sample survey weights, graphing data and results is often one of the most troublesome aspects of data analysis.
This event is a practical demonstration of how to use Stata more effectively and efficiently to produce publication ready graphs that can easily be incorporated into research presentations, doctoral dissertations, and journal articles.
The workshop will begin with a more general discussion of developing an organised workflow into which the production of graphs can systematically be undertaken. There will be a demonstration of how to produce graphs of both data and outputs (e.g. results from statistical models) in high-quality formats that make them ready for publication.
A Stata .do file will be available during the workshop so that participants can follow the Stata syntax used to produce the graphs more easily. The Stata .do file will also be a resource to help participants produce their own publication ready graphs after the workshop.
The workshop will be conducted using British English and therefore participants will be introduced to terminology associated with graphing in Stata (e.g. faffing, rigmarole and palaver).
By the end of the workshop participants should be more confident that they can produce publication ready graphs using Stata.
Prior knowledge: Some prior experience would be helpful, but not necessary.
