This session introduces qualitative research, and is recommended for folks who are new to research in general or to qualitative research in particular. 

The agenda will be as follows:

  • D-Lab Welcome (5 mins)
  • Intro of Facilitator & Participants (5 mins)
  • Qualitative Research Primer (75 mins)
    • Basic Concepts & Processes
    • Methodologies & Methods
    • UC Berkeley Resources & Reading Recommendations
  • Preliminary Intro to Coding (15 mins)
    • What is Coding? What are Codes?
  • Wrap-Up & Evals (10 mins)

Folks who are NOT new to qual research, do NOT need a refresher on qual research basics, and want to focus primarily on creating and applying a coding scheme, as well as engaging in analysis, should sign up only for the workshop titled Introduction to Qualitative Research Coding, offerred on Monday, May 6th at 2:30pm.
