Join the Social Computing Working Group for a conversation with Rochelle Terman. Rochelle will present on the life cycle of a text analysis project using data from New York Times coverage of women around the world. How does the American media represent women abroad, and how do these representations vary across world region? She will discuss web scraping, preprocessing, and visualization, and cover myriad techniques such as topic modeling, named entity recognition, sentiment analysis and word separating algorithms. While everyone is welcome, the presentation will assume a basic knowledge of Python and R.
