Zotero is an open-source citation manager that allows you to save information while searching and browsing the Web. With a single click, Zotero saves citations (as well as screen shots and documents) and enables you to create customized bibliographies in multiple citation styles, including MLA, Chicago, and APA.

This workshop will include:

  1. Zotero Basics: The Zotero library, adding items to your library, using collections to organize your library, using tags to organize your library, metadata options, sorting and searching, and outputting a bibliography.
  2. Zotero Intermediate: Using the word processor plug-ins, changing the citation style, using Zotero with Google Docs, extracting data from PDFs, collaborating with Group Libraries, and adding attachments to citations.

Prior knowledge: No prior experience with Zotero is required. Please register if you have any interest in tips and tricks for organizing your sources!

Technology requirements: Please install Zotero prior to attending the workshop. Instructions can be found here. There won't be much time set aside for installation issues, so please follow the directions provided to install Zotero and the other plug-ins. Feel free to contact the instructor in advance of the workshop if you have questions about setting up Zotero. Contact information is listed on the instructions page.
