Hero Ashman is a PhD student in Sociology. Before starting her PhD, she worked as a Research Assistant at Haas School of Business and the University of Pennsylvania. Her current research interests lie at the intersection of economic inequality, gender and race in the United States. Hero has experience working with data from the Census and the Survey of Consumer Finances using Stata and R.
Véronique is a PhD student in Sociology, focusing on inequalities in K-12 education in the United States. Her dissertation examines the impact of selective enrollment public schools on district-level achievement outcomes and resource allocation. This work relies on original data collected using basic web scraping skills––skills she developed through the Python FUN!damentals and Web Scraping trainings at D-Lab!
