This workshop will cover two core methods for mapping tabular geospatial data: table joins and spatial joins. Table joins allow you to link the content in two tables together based on a key field, while spatial joins allow you to connect layer features based on their spatial location. We will be using QGIS to explore these two tools. Along the way we will make use of the related technique of summarization and work through some commonly encountered problems with joins.
Bring a laptop with QGIS installed. Beginner level understanding of GIS and geospatial data are expected. This workshop is a continuation of the two introductory workshops GIS Fundamentals and Geospatial Data Visualization.
