Relational database management systems (RDBMS) offer a flexible approach to research data management. Some advantages include improved data integrity, efficient processing, and compatibility with a wide range of analytical tools.In Part I, we’ll cover basic data modeling principles required to implement an RDBMS-based research workflow and examine some typical workflows for importing data into an RDBMS.In Part II, participants will learn how to use Structured Query Language (SQL) language to add, modify, and extract data from a relational database.

Prerequisite:This workshop series assumes no previous experience with SQL, but participants should have at least basic knowledge of a high level programming language like Python or R.
