Join a collaborative workshop focusing on data management for ethnographers. How do you take and organize fieldnotes? How do you use and keep track of multiple kinds of "data", from course notes to images, interview transcripts to pdfs? Do you have a favorite tactic for outlining and organizing your writing?
In this informal gathering we will share experiences and tips on the analog and digital tools we use for every phase of our research, from note taking, transcribing, and coding, to organizing, brainstorming, managing citations, and, writing. We welcome discussion of all technologies, from silicon to cellulose, from colored pencils to coding algorithms.
Come share your ideas -- or just come and learn about the tools that others find useful. If you have tips to share, please bring your laptop and the appropriate dongle to show us on the big screen.
Lunch will be provided for the first 20 to sign up -- please RSVP if you want us to hold a box lunch from FSM.
This workshop is co-organized by the CSTMS Crowd and Cloud Project.
