Description
Type:

Libraries, archives, and museums have been engaged in putting digital collections online for nearly 20 years. These digital cultural heritage collections are made available online and searchable via the metadata associated with them. Digital humanities and social sciences researchers make use of this metadata for discovery and analysis of these digital research materials. This workshop will introduce participants to metadata used by libraries, archives, and museums to describe and encode online digital collections. We will look at why and how metadata is used, and explore what lies behind digital research collections online. No prior experience required.
