Wordpress is an easy-to-use and powerful web hosting platform. Its "famous" 5-minute installation procedure really can be done in 5 minutes, and installing an attractive theme and uploading simple content doesn't take much longer. Once that's done, the possibilities are endless; we'll look at some of the plug-ins that can help you display and publicize your research data.

Prerequisites:

If you want to work on your own site during the workshop, you will need to bring a laptop, and set up a web hosting account prior to the session. The student-run Open Computing Facility (OCF) provides free web and database hosting to Berkeley affiliates, or, you can set up on Amazon AWS or a third-party web host like Dreamhost or Bluehost.

If you need help setting up an OCF account, please first review the OCF Web hosting documentation. If you are still having difficulty, you may contact D-Lab staff with additional questions.
