When & Where
Date:
Wed, April 13, 2016 - 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Location:
D-Lab: Convening Room (356 Barrows Hall)
Description
Type:

We'll learn how to create animated 3-d data visualizations in Python. This sort of visualization method is useful to demonstrate different perspectives of a three dimensional data set. In particular, we'll demonstrate these methods using Python's pandas, matplotlib, and pillow packages. We'll also introduce animating 2-d data over a range of parameter values, and animating data from a 3-d dynamical system over time.

Prerequisites: Some prior knowledge of Python, pandas, and matplotlib. Before the session, install the pandas, numpy, matplotlib, ipython, pillow, and images2gif Python packages.
