Machine learning often evokes images of Skynet, self-driving cars, and computerized homes. However, these ideas are less science fiction as they are tangible phenomena that are predicated on description, classification, prediction, and pattern recognition in data.

An introduction to programming basics in Bash and GitHub that are often assumed, but that you might have never had good instruction on!
SQL is a viable option for anyone working with a large dataset. For this reason, SQL is a must-skill if you intend to work with Big Data or data-intensive organizations. The workshop aims to demonstrate that SQL is easy to learn, if you already know how to use DPLYR package in R. This will be a very hands-on workshop with live coding.
This workshop provides a brief history of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and an explanation of the intuition and concepts behind them with few mathematical barriers. Participants will learn step-by-step construction of a basic ANN. Also, you will use the popular scikit-learn Python library to implement an ANN on a classification problem.
Join David Harding, Professor of Sociology and Faculty Director of D-Lab at UC Berkeley, for a discussion on how to successfully apply for qualitative research grants from funders with positivist inclinations. Prof.
Pandas is a Python package providing fast, flexible, and expressive data structures designed to make working with 'relational' or 'labeled' data both easy and intuitive. It enables doing practical, real world data analysis in Python.
In this workshop, we'll work with example data and go through the various steps you might need to prepare data for analysis.
