Join us for a presentation by Eduardo Escobar!
Presentation summary: Cuneiform, the world’s oldest writing system, provides an incredible dataset for the computational analysis of ancient knowledge. This talk consists of two parts. First, Eduardo will describe the pedagogical potential of a collaborative tool that analyzes cuneiform texts for their most frequently used signs; second, he will show how network analysis can aid in visualizing, contextualizing, and disambiguating some of the most difficult technical terms from cuneiform technical scholarship. Eduardo will argue that, collectively, these two computational approaches can aid in deepening our understanding of cuneiform cultures as both researchers and instructors.
