Andrew Bertoli is a PhD candidate in Political Science at UC Berkeley. His research investigates how new methodological tools can be applied to the study of international relations.
This presentation will cover the basics of natural experiments, along with providing two applications involving international sporting events. Specifically, certain random features of these events allow us to tackle the longstanding question of whether international sports encourage peace or conflict between countries. The presentation will be followed by open discussion.
