Description
Type:

Are you interested in helping to build a database on federal court cases? Do you want to learn some programming and data management skills while you're at it? This semester, D-Lab will host a working group where interested students can help build a large and comprehensive database on litigation in federal district courts. The working group will begin by collecting data from district court docket sheets, and will progress by identifying other interesting sources of data and connecting the new data to other commonly used databases on courts. The data will be made available to the wider community of scholars on courts with the expectation that working group members will use the data for their own research. As part of the working group, members will receive some training in using python for data management.

The working group will be led by Ryan Copus (JSP) and Ryan Hubert (Political Science), and it is open to all. The agenda for the semester will be set by the members of the group, so please register to attend our first organizational meeting.
