This workshop provides an introduction of historical research cases and ethical principles, and a discussion of federal regulations overseeing human subjects research. The session also emphasizes the role of consent in research and investigator responsibilities.

This workshop provides a focus on issues specific to internet research such as data security, use of online survey tools, internet user expectation of privacy, online recruitment, screening out minors, waiving documentation of consent, and confidentiality limitations.
