Digital methods have in many ways revolutionized the nature of 21st-century scholarship. Some scholars have claimed that the digital humanities is in practice the application of social science to texts. For instance, a recent session co-convened by Ray Siemens and Monica Bulger on the topic at the Modern Language Association is available here. Lynne and Raymond Siemens will lead a discussion to interrogate the relationship between the humanities and social sciences with regard to digital methods.

Dr. Lynne Siemens is Assistant Professor of in the School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria and management advisor to the Implementing New Knowledge Environments project. She leads a workshop in Project Management at the Digital Humanities Summer Institute.

Dr. Raymond Siemens is the Canada Research Chair in Humanities Computing and a Distinguished Professor in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Victoria, the director of the Electronic Cultures Textual Lab, and the Digital Humanities Summer Institute.
