Desiree French was trained in ethnographic and qualitative methods at Berkeley while working on her PhD in Education. She is also very interested in mixed method approaches to research. Desiree's research at Berkeley examined how new and extant social ties influenced the choice of child care for women transitioning from welfare to work. She used NVivo to code and analyze interviews with mothers, child care providers, and case workers conducted over three years.
