When & Where
Schedule:
Merged with Python for Data Analysis (was Fridays 2:00-4:00pm)
Location:
D-Lab Small Breakout Room (350 Suite)
Description

NOTE: PY4TEXT HAS MERGED WITH PY4DATA (THE PYTHON FOR DATA ANALYSIS WORKING GROUP). There will be no futher meetings of the Python & Text Working Group in the forseeable future. Also, the Python working groups are currently in the process of reorganizing. Please check back at the above link, at python.berkeley.edu, or subscribe to py4science@lists.berkeley.edu for more news.

This is the first meeting of a peer-run beginner focused working group on using the programming language Python for text analysis, which is useful for web scraping and natural language processing. Let's take a crack at Neal Caren's tutorial on Big Data Analysis (available here). Please try to do Part 1 of An introduction to text analysis with Python in preparation for the meeting.

We'll work through the chapter, troubleshoot, and schedule logistics for a regular meeting time.

Registration is welcomed, but it's not required. Feel free to come if you're not certain that this group is for you. Cyrus Dioun is coordinating.
