The Bancroft Library’s Digital Collection encompasses content drawn from all of our collecting areas and represent various material formats including manuscripts, pictorial, maps, books, and other more. With collections numbering over 300,000 digitized items and 2.5 million pages of digitized books, the collection is growing annually. Begun in 1993, the development of the digital collection has been driven by various factors that have resulting a collection of some of our most important and heavily used materials, such as the land case maps, Japanese-American internment records, social protest collections, the Zamorano 80, and fine artwork and photographs by luminaries such as Albert Beirstadt and Ansel Adams. The digital collections are made available through the California Digital Library’s Calisphere site, the Open Library, and our catalogs.
